MONDAY 4 FEBRUARY
Paddington Bear arrives to stay at Dalemain in Cumbria. During the week
he will visit Sharrow Bay Hotel to help make his Anniversary cake and
he has been invited to go on the steamer on Ullswater. As a special treat
he will be visiting The Dacre Puddings kitchen to sample the Marmalade
Bread and Butter Pudding which is to be served to those attending the
lunch following the RHS lecture. Anyone wanting him to visit should get
in touch with Dalemain Estates to see what he can do.
THURSDAY 7 FEBRUARY
Royal Horticultural Society Lecture ‘Totally Tropical’ by
Sue Hoy, lecturer in Plantsmanship, Garden Design and Garden History,
and Head Gardener at Normanby Hall, Lincolnshire.

The Festival will be held on February
7-10, 2008 at Dalemain in Cumbria.
Sunday 10 February – will be an opportunity once more to view
the entries.

Seven of Cumbria's leading independent bakeries are creating marmalade loaves (using Carr's flour) especially for the festival.
They are:
Gretna Bakery (Gretna)
Grange Bakery (Grange-over-Sands)
Munx Lakeland Bakery (Staveley)
Staff of Life (Kendal)
Moore's Bakery (Dalston)
Bryson's Bakery (Keswick)
Broughton Village Bakery (Broughton in Furness)
From January 14 the bakeries will be selling the loaves in their own shops to help publicise the marmalade festival.
Judging to find the tastiest loaf will take place at the festival on Friday 8 February. The judging panel will be Duncan Monroe, managing director of Carr's Flour, Dan Lepard, baker and food writer, Richard Eccles, editor of Cumbria Life Magazine.
The loaves will be on sale at the event on Sunday 10 February from the Artisan Food Stand. All proceeds will go to Hospice at Home
